Do Mind If I Don't
In the increasingly distant past (1996), I moved to London with the dream of becoming a writer. Or a singer in a band. Or a music journalist. It was a different time, before smartphones and the omnipresence of social media. It was a more analogue time. It was a time when I didn't need the internet to make an idiot of myself.
I didn't become a singer (of any note) or a music journalist (of any note). What actually happened was that I spent a lot of time working in offices, bouncing between temp jobs, embarrassing myself around town, making humiliating mistakes, getting mugged and under achieving. Mostly it's about someone from a small town who moves to the big city and tries to fit in, with varying degrees of success.

Do Mind If I Don't is a diary of those years, 1996-2005. If you like Curb Your Enthusiasm or Jon Ronson or David Sedaris or Alan Bennet (and I don't put myself in the same league as those writers, of course) then maybe you'll like it?
